ELECTIONS
IMPORTANT 2008 ELECTION INFORMATION
REGISTRATION
Citizens must submit an Arkansas Voter Registration Application by the October 6, 2008 deadline to participate in this election. The application is available in both English and Spanish. The original application must be submitted to your county clerk or the Secretary of State in person or by mail.
Even if you already are a registered voter, it is important to keep your voter registration information current. Verify your information using Voter View available at www.votenaturally.org. If you see anything that needs to be updated, please contact your county clerk immediately. Click here for a listing of contact information for county clerks.
In 2007, the state legislature passed a law allowing for county-to-county transfer of voter registrations up to four days before the election. So, if you are a registered Arkansas voter and have recently moved to a new county in Arkansas, this provision will help ensure that you’ll be able to vote at your new polling place. The deadline for transferring your voter registration from your former county of residence to your current one is October 31, 2008 for this election.
BALLOT ISSUES
In 2007, the legislature referred three proposed ballot issues to the people to be voted on in this election. Additionally, Secretary of State Charlie Daniels has certified petitions for two other ballot issues.
